Billed as one of the largest efforts of any US city to reduce pollution, incandescent bulbs in Los Angeles City street lamps will be replaced with longer lasting, more energy efficient LED bulbs and light emitting diodes. President Clinton proudly spoke of how Los Angeles is one of a handful of cities who met their Kyoto Protocol goals early (October of 2008) and Mayor Villaragosa repeated his call to action and commitment to make Los Angeles the "cleanest, greenest big city in the U.S." Earth Hour 2009 is set to be an exciting, high profile, community-based event that supports the great work of WWF and the Mayor's vision for "building a bridge to a sustainable future.".
