WHY WE LOVE GINA RENE....

Gina Rene's unlimited appeal embodies a raw spiritual talent that crosses musical genres and boundaries like never before.

Bringing her global internet following, American singer, song writing gem Gina Rene has generously offered up her hopeful hip hop ballad of universal love "Be The Change" as the anthem for Earth Hour LA. With an inspiring intro "rap" by Agape spiritual leader, Reverend Michael Bernard Beckwith (see bio), Be The Change celebrates what Gina and the rest of us hope to see in the world today. Her sultry vocals span rhymes from R & B, hard hitting Hip Hop hooks and deep emotional messages of joining and leading the movement of inspiring individuals dedicated to living a life of beneficial presence on this planet. Ms. Gina Rene took a few minutes out of her schedule to tell Earth Hour LA a bit more about what motivates her to make such a beautiful difference in the world, here's what she said...

Q: What is your hope for Earth Hour 2009? What can people do to keep the conversation (and the action!) going beyond 9:31 on March 28th?

A: My vision and hope for Earth Hour 2009 is that MORE than 1 billion people participate and even after Earth Hour that turning off our lights becomes a regular daily practice of reducing the effects of climate change. It's such a simple, easy thing to do and Earth hour itself is only one hour out of one year =365 days =8,760 hours. Let's do more than we thought we could..let's surprise ourselves!!!
.... Now that's a thought.

Los Angeles launches program to replace street lights with LEDs

Former President Clinton came to Los Angeles on Monday for a special presentation with Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and Public Works, street lighting director, Ed Ebrahimian, as part of the Clinton Climate Initiative. Billed as one of the largest efforts of any US city to reduce pollution, incandescent bulbs in Los Angeles City street lamps will be replaced with longer lasting, more energy efficient LED bulbs and light emitting diodes. President Clinton proudly spoke of how Los Angeles is one of a handful of cities who met their Kyoto Protocol goals early (October of 2008) and Mayor Villaragosa repeated his call to action and commitment to make Los Angeles the "cleanest, greenest big city in the U.S." Earth Hour 2009 is set to be an exciting, high profile, community-based event that supports the great work of WWF and the Mayor's vision for "building a bridge to a sustainable future.".
