As part of the mayor's Earth Hour celebration, the Life Drum Core, consisting of 12 young Los Angelinos ages 7 to 16, will perform an original percussion composition, 'A Funeral for Fossil Fuels' on recycled buckets they've painted in 'green themes.' The Life Drum Core is a music education project that provides professional instruction for Los Angeles students whose schools do not offer music programs. The group is taught and directed by Lonnie 'Meganut' Marshall, a music teacher at the Silver Lake Conservatory and the founder and star of the popular L.A. funk-soul band, Weapon of Choice.
